Feast of Tabernacles

or The Feast of Ingathering

(The Feast of Tabernacles is set at the time of the great fall harvest season. The word tabernacle merely means 'booth' or 'kiosk', a temporary dwelling.)

Lev 23:33-36
"And the Lord spake unto Moses saying,
Speak unto the children of Israel saying, 'The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord.
On the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work therein.
Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord; on the eighth day shall be an noly convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord; it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein."

(Notice that the Feast of Tabernacles was coincident with the gathering in of the fruit of the land emphazing the harvest.)
(All you really learn from this scripture is that God said they were to dwell in booths so they would remember that God made them to dwell in booths.)

(Notice in Lev 23:37 that God says that these are His feast days. Not the feasts of the Jews. For all mankind.)

2Cor 4:6-7
"For God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

2Cor 5:1-4
"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven.
If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
For we that being clothed do not groan, being burdened; not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life."

(Notice how many times our physical bodies are likened to a tabernacle or a booth, a temporary dwelling place.)

2Pet 1:13-14, 1Cor 15:40-49

Rev 21:3
"Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them , and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God."

(Tabernacle? Still only a temporary situation.)

(Notice, when the Kingdom of God is set up on this earth everyone will observe the Feast of Tabernacles.)

Zech14:16-19
"And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and the keep the feast of tabernacles.
And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles."

(It seems this feast must be pretty important to God. As all of His Sabbaths are. In the kingdom of God evidently He intends to force everyone to keep this feast. Even the Gentiles and those who today believe that these days were for the Jewish people only. Seems to me that if this is the way it will be in the future then why not begin keeping these feasts today? Instead of the pagan customs of this world.)
